Dukes Memorial Hospital Celebrates Employees at Annual Service Awards Banquet
 

Peru, Ind. (Nov. 2, 2011) – On Wednesday, October 26, 2011, Dukes Memorial Hospital celebrated the years of service and retirement of several of their employees at their annual Service Awards Banquet held at the Miami County Community Building located at the Miami County Fairgrounds. Each year Dukes Memorial Hospital hosts this event to recognize their employees who have been employed at the hospital for five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty and forty years or who have retired in the past year. The honorees were treated to a special dinner and presentation hosted by Debra Close, Dukes Memorial Hospital CEO, and other members of administration. This year, 26 employees were recognized for their years of service and three employees were recognized for their years of service and their retirement. The following are the names of individuals who were recognized for their years of service and/or retirement: (5 years) Andrew Atkinson, Denise Dewitt, Destini Deniston, Diana Smith, Dustin Heath, Gregg Hensler, Julie Heath, Keri Evans, Leslie Morningstar, Michelle Saylor, Susan Youngblood and Troy Phillipy; (10 years) Anita Shriver, Donna Wecht, Lori Hazelwood, Nikki Shambarger, Pat Unger, Richard Keller, M.D., Robert Bookwalter and Sue Starkey; (15 years) Neil Stalker, M.D. and Sherry Richard; (30 years) Jo Estes, John McCurtain and Mike Hollering; (35 years) Rita Thatcher; (Retirees) Anita Shriver, Mary Kay and Patsy David.

At the conclusion of this year’s event Debra Close, CEO, announced the 2011 Employee of the Year, Clinical Manager of the Year and Non-Clinical Manager of the Year. The 2011 Employee of the year was awarded to Kim Pugh of the Medical Imaging Department. The Employee of the Year is selected by their peers among all Employee of the Month honorees. To be nominated as Employee of the Month the employee must meet specific criteria. The nominee consistently demonstrates any/all of the following Standards of Performance:

  • A positive & professional attitude
  • A commitment to co-workers through teamwork and flexibility
  • Professional communication both in person and on the telephone
  • Consistently responsive to patients & informs them of approximate wait times
  • Consistently uses AIDET
  • Consistently demonstrates respect for patient privacy
  • Demonstrates loyalty to the unit and the organization as a whole
  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients, physician, and co-workers

Kim Pugh had been named Employee of the Month for October. The Clinical Manager of the Year was awarded to Jason Bitner, Manager of Surgery, and the Non-Clinical Manager of the Year was awarded to Paul Health, IS/Biomed Manager. The Management Team sets the selection criteria for both Clinical Manager of the Year and Non-Clinical Manager of the Year.
